Historically the development of this sub-zone of the Old Town stems from the improvement of the crossing of the Radobolja River as a connection to the main strategicpoint of the city-the crossing the Neretva River. The other important aspect of development was the economic use of Radobolja River. The construction of a network of channels had provided the energy for 19 watermills and a large tannery set up the maintain economic field in the period between 16th an 19th centuries.

Buka watermill was one of these watermills along Radobolja River. It is built at the end of 19th century and destroyed at the end of 20th century.  It was located in the north side of the Radobolja River near Orucevica Bridge. It was a one storey building and was stone masonry. The building has a gabled roof covered with stones slates.

The reconstruction of Buka watermill became important because of its location and importance in the river siluette and its role in the economic use of Radobolja River. It is proposed to use Buka watermill as it before and the three storey building next to it as cafe and restaurant.
